Casing
You will find casing around the frames of doors and windows. It is meant to cover the gap between a window or door and the wall. Casing can come in a variety of sizes but will generally be about 2-3” wide.
Baseboards
Though you’ve surely seen them, baseboards often don’t receive the recognition they deserve. Baseboard design is usually quite simple, but they perform the important job of hiding joining flooring with the walls. This gives a sense of visual continuity that can truly pull a room together.
Crown molding
So named because it is often the crowning architectural element in an interior, crown molding not only serves the purpose of joining the wall and the ceiling but does so in an attractive and visually striking way.
Chair rail molding
This form of molding is designed to protect walls from damage by preventing furniture from being able to run into it. It is also quite visually stunning and is an excellent way to transition between paint and wallpaper.
